NGO Partnerships

 

CIHF encourages bringing professional management concepts to social work. We at CIHF are focusing on identifying issues which have high potential to create change. We spend significant time in careful due diligence, evaluating and involving the right partners who demonstrate an ability to understand and solve issues from a big picture perspective.

By involving top Corporates to lend credibility to our functioning we also ensure that we maintain the highest integrity in fund management and allocations to NGO supported programs & partnerships.

Due Diligence

We at CIHF take utmost care in checking the program due diligence, one of CIHF’s key focus areas, refers to a process through which an investor (donor) assesses an organization’s programmatic, social impact and financial health to help guide the funding towards the organization. Building synergies with likeminded non-profit organizations which help translate CIHF’s vision on ground in their individual spheres of work, is critical to our collective success.

The Due Diligence at CIHF also very importantly protects a corporate partner’s investments, overall congruence with funding philosophy and areas of community investments as envisaged by the corporate partner.

The aim is to also help our corporate partners achieve the best out of the grassroots partnerships while building symbiotic and fruitful partnerships with NGO partners.

Key Principles governing the choice of NGOs / projects are:

• Legal and Regulatory Compliance – The NGO must conform to all legal and regulatory requirements of the country as a registered non-profit body.

• Sustainability – The non profit’s programs must be quantifiable with feasible monitoring and evaluation indicators.

• Long Term Impact – The NGO must have a long term vision and mission and preferably be working with large population groups. Its programs should aim at creating self-sufficiency amongst the beneficiaries.

• Scalability – Organized systems and processes of project execution with clearly defined goals and objectives, potential to grow and can be implemented over a significant geographical area (city / district / state).

• Legislative Potential - An understanding of the relationship between government agencies and beneficiary groups and to be able to explore solutions to help change / modify systems to impact society positively

CIHF primarily addresses the following as the priority areas of investment for social change:

  1. Education for Children
  2. Healthcare & Livelihoods
  3. Social Well-being & Civic Issues
  4. Disaster Relief & Rehabilitation

 

To be eligible to receive funding from CIHF, the NGO must meet the following criteria:

• Be a registered not-for-profit organization in India with all the legalities in place.

• Have an active board of directors that meets with a quorum at least quarterly.

• Have a stated mission and bylaws (in case required).

• Not be affiliated to any political party.

• Conduct an annual audit and submit the audit report to the concerned authorities.

• Subscribe to the mission of CIHF as demonstrated by conforming to the Memorandum of Understanding (to be signed between the agency and CIHF)

The decision to fund or not or the extent of funding support is determined by a balance of objective data analysis, general state of organization’s health, overall stability and extent of social impact.

CIHF monitors and evaluates its work in order to:

• Check progress against objectives and unexpected results.

• Learn from experience and adapt projects to optimize their impact.

• Provide information and learning’s to stakeholders and be accountable for our actions and the resources we manage

 

Capacity Building

In addition to the stated areas of community investment, CIHF also extensively endeavours to provide comprehensive and customized consulting services that strengthen capacities of its Partner NGOs to effectively address their stated goals.

Some of the ways CIHF provides support to agencies include:

• Assistance with budgeting and strategic planning

• Legal and accounting consultancy

• Supporting salaries

• Technology training and IT planning

• Volunteer engagement

CIHF does not provide direct services or assistance to individuals and families.
